Youngest Professionals Unlimited would like to establish a residency for architects and artists.  The residency program will focus on developing contemporary and experimental playgrounds to be placed in schoolyards within the Los Angeles area where playground equipment is needed.  The resident artists and architects will work closely with the current playground codes and guidelines, using their creative abilities to make innovative designs to accommodate preventative safety measures.  The residency and center will serve as a source for educating the youth in contemporary art practices inherent to architects and artists working today.  It will serve, not only as an educational destination for field trips, but also as a facilitator of artistic activity through classes and hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.   

Primarily, the residency program will help to install individualized and unique playgrounds to schools in need.  By enhancing individual schooling environments, the program will assist in the diversification of educational experiences throughout the Los Angeles area.  It is in this spirit that the program will emphasize a need for experimentation within the field of playground development.  It will foster a collective growth, and establish an environment where the concerns and attempts at reformed education have a focal point.  As an educational resource it will be open to visiting classes, and pupils.  It will help to show children what a residency is, how it works, how a playground is constructed, and display the playgrounds that are in current construction.  The resident architects and sculptors will also teach a class, or a series of workshops to facilitate creative output and inspiration for children who are interested in art and architecture.  The classes/workshops will specialize in sculptural and 3-dimensional subject matter, and its manifestation. The resident architects and sculptors will have the chance to enhance, and refine their teaching skills through classroom visits, and teaching opportunities.

Youngest Professionals Unlimited is currently looking for support to begin this project.  We would like to establish a non-profit organization and find adequate space and building equipment to begin the residency program.
